Last night I ran through fire.

Well, I ran through fireworks.
These people were ready to go with
 their ski masks and everything!
Every year during Festival de La Mercè there is an event called El Correfoc de La Mercè which in English means The Fire Run. People dress up as "Devils" and spray the streets with hand held fireworks and sparklers. To attend this event, it is advised that you cover up to protect yourself from the flames and fireworks.
Attending this event is truly a once and a life time experience. The rush you feel when you run out to join a "Devil" to dance along the street with them as they hold their sparkler high, or low, above their head is extraordinary. You can't help but want to do it again and again after your first time.

Who knew fireworks made such
good selfie lighting?!?
Madi, Anavi, & I at El Correfoc
I was extremely nervous to try it. I kept seeing people run out to join a "Devil" and look as though they were having the time of their life dancing down the street. Once I built up the courage to do it, I didn't stop until the end of El Correfoc.
El Correfoc lasted for 2 hours, though it felt as if only 20 minutes had past.
I will never forget this experience. Participating in El Correfoc is something I can check off my bucket list though I didn't know it was even on it.
