Tarragona, Sigtes, and La Mercè

Getting up at 6:30am yesterday morning was rough but worth it. I, along with almost everyone else on the bus, stayed out late celebrating the first night of the festival. I only stayed out till about 11:45pm but others stayed out till the wee hours of the morning.
We arrived at school a few minutes past the set meeting time and to no surprise, there weren't many people there. Most people showed up a few minutes late.
After an hour and a half on the bus we arrived in Tarragona. In Roman times, the Romans took over the city and fortified it. Now, the original city is in ruins and the current city has been built upon and around the ruins of this former Roman city. Some apartments have ancient walls in the middle of their living rooms as to not disturb the ruins. We were able to go up in one of the remaining standing towers and the view was beautiful. You could see all of Tarragona.

Once the tour was finished, we were all free to explore and get lunch. Anavi and I got Bikini sandwiches. The name is funny but they are basically grilled cheese sandwiches with ham.
After lunch, we got back on the bus and headed to Sigtes. There we had 4 hours of free time and I spent it all on the beach. I didn't go in the water. I relaxed on the sand and talked with other AIFS students. It was a great way to spend those 4 hours.

Back in Barcelona, I went out with Derek and Molly(there are 3 here on the trip, not including me) and stayed out until 1:45am! I don't know how people do this every night because I am dead tired right now.
