The Magic Flute

Last night I went to see Mozart's opera "The Magic Flute". Prince Tamino is challenged to rescue the Queen of the Night's daughter Pamina. Accompanied by Papageno, he goes through the severe trials of initiation and is in the end triumph with the Queen vanquished and with his love Pamina.
I've never been to an opera before and wasn't sure what to expect. I walked to my seat and the entire opera house was filled with people all excitedly talking about one thing or another. My seat was in the top-tier but it was a great seat. I was able to see the stage and orchestra but could barely see the English subtitles.
The lights went down and I settled in for the show. I was on the edge of my seat the whole first half and even more so in the second half. Half of the time because the story was so intriguing but the other half because I couldn't read the subtitles. It was such a fantastic performance. I was blown away and very thankful I walked the round trip hour walk to get there.
