The firsts started yesterday afternoon when I went thrift shopping with my roommates. I enjoy thrift shopping very much back home. This was my first time thrift shopping in Barcelona and I enjoyed it very much. I bought a cute bracelet. Krista got a cute jacket and Jennifer got a pair of shorts and a super soft sweater.
After thrifting, we needed a snack. Thrifting is a lot of hard work and we needed to replenish our energy. Just kidding, but that's as good excuse as any to get a snack. Though it was getting cold, we stopped in to a McDonalds and got McFlurries. We hadn't been to a fast food chain here before then so there's another first.
We arrived home and then I soon headed out to have dinner with my friends Kaila and Tori. The restaurant we planned to go to was packed so we went to a pizza place around the corner. These €2 pieces of pizza are the best pizza I've had this trip. After finishing our dinner we all headed home to get ready for the night ahead. In a few hours Kaila, Tori, Ari, and I were going to a club. This was another first for yesterday.
I have never been to a club before last night. To no surprise, the club we went to was exactly what I imagined a club to be. It was dark, loud, and smelled pretty funky. The club we went to is called Otto Zatz. We all got in for free by saying we were on the Cali List. There were 4 rooms in this club. The first was top 40s music. The second, my favorite, was playing a mix of music from Taylor Swift to Grease. It was also the least crowded room. Spanish top 40s were playing in the third room and I don't know what was playing in the fourth as that room was for VIPs.
At about 2:30 am Ari and I decided we'd had enough of crowded rooms that smelled funky. We found Kaila and Tori to let them know we were heading home. Then we waited for 30 minutes to get Ari's jacket out of coach check. We finally got on the metro at about 3:15 am. We thankfully had to transfer to the same line so wer together for the first 20 minutes of our comute home. I arrived home at about 3:50 am and went straight to bed.
Brett and I went to the last museum, Fundació Antoni Tàpies, in our art passes this afternoon. We went to the front desk to get our tickets and passes stamped. The man at the front desk said it was a free day so we didn't need our passes which meant we didn't get our stamps. Brett and I looked at each other both knowing all we wanted was that stamp to complete our art passes. I kindly asked the man if we could have them stamped anyway. He gave us our stamps but definitely thought it was weird. I am not a fan of Antoni Tàpies' work. Neither is Brett so we quickly went through the museum.
We left the museum and got on the metro to head to Parc del Laberint d'Horta. This is one of my favorite places I've visited in Barcelona. The park itself is absolutely beautiful. There is a pond that a has at least 150 koi fish in it. Most of them are orange but there are a lot of multi-colored fish as well. We couldn't tell how deep the pond was mostly because of how murky the water was but also because of the amount of fish in it.
The best part about the whole thing is the labyrinth in the middle. Though it is being redone in parts, it was still great. This is the first labyrinth I've been in. It also reminded me of the maze from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire though on a much smaller scale. I shall forever find connections and reminders to Harry Potter wherever I go.
