My plan for the day was to go to 2 of the 3 museums left in my Art Pass (a pass given to me at the beginning of the semester to get into 6 of Barcleona's best museums for free). The first museum I went to is called MACBA (Museu D'Art Contemporani de Barcelona). I had my doubts about this museum because it is mostly modern art. I'm not the biggest fan of modern art but I am the biggest fan of this museum.
I loved each exhibit. My favorite was an exhibit in which the artist had taken photos of Barcelona in the 50's, I believe, and basically made life-size cutouts of them. The background was basically a sunset just without the sun and all the pretty colors. It was beautiful.

My second favorite exhibit only has one piece. It is printed on one of the walls in the museum. It says,
+
Some objects of necessity
+
Some objects of no concern
-
Those things that escape notice
÷
A force of majeure
=
Some things
First it is written in English, then in Catalan, and then in Spanish. The letters are blues and the symbols are red. What I took from this piece is the message that you should live your life the way you want to. And I intend to do just that.
Outside of the MACBA, there are tons of skateboarders. They use the front steps of this museum as ramps and rails to skate on. The museum doesn't mind as it has become a cultural phenomenon. On the steps of the MACBA is where you experience the Barcelona skate culture.
Just down the street is the CCCB (Centre de Cultura Contempránia de Barcelona). This is the second museum I went to. I love this museum as well. They had two exhibits: World Press Photo and Humans. Both were phenomenal.
I started with the World Press Photo exhibit. It had photos that were entered in the World Press Photo competition that placed first, second, or third. Each set of photos touched on a very surreal subject. Some are current issues and some are past issues. Each photo held a story. I enjoyed looking at each photo and trying to figure out the story behind it.
The Humans exhibit was just as impressive. The exhibit showcased the progression of mankind alongside technology. It was fascinating to see some of the things humans have created to try to improve the world we live in. It also gave an interesting spin at the end on how artificial intelligence may affect our lives in the not to distant future.
In the courtyard outside the CCCB, a group of teenagers were dancing. They all seemed so happy and carefree, enjoying the moment they were in. This is one of the biggest things I will miss about Barcelona. Everyone lives in the moment and not on the moments to come.
