We explored the whole entire flea market, which took us about 2 and a half hours, before getting an early lunch. And by early I mean 12:00 pm. We're so used to eating lunch around 1:00 to 2:00 pm. We both went to bed very late the night before and were feeling pretty drowsy. To combat the drowsiness we got café con leches and perked right up.
We hopped on the metro and headed to Real Madrid's futbol staduim. You had to pay for a tour to go inside so we walked around the outside. Their staduim would be great to see but it's not worth €18. At least not to us. On the far side of the staduim is their store. We explored the whole store, guessing prices of all the items along the way.
Our next stop was the Reina Sofia Museum. When we arrived, only one level of the museum was opening for viewing. Neither of us liked the art displayed inside except for the maze made of doors. We had maybe a little to much fun going through it. One of the women working there was very amused by how much fun we had going through it. The outside courtyard in the middle of the building had a cool, abstract sculpture and pretty fountains. We wished we could have seen the other exhibits. We'll just have to come back. What a shame...*sarcasm*
From there we headed back to Gran Via to try one more time to go into Primark. And this time, we were successful.
There was not line to get in but it was packed and we almost immediately understood why. It's a store full of fashionable, cute, good quality, relatively cheap clothing, accessories, and much more. It's our new favorite store. We spent over 2 hours looking through all 5 stories of this glorious store. We indulged and bought ourselves a few cute things.
Hungry and feeling homesick for Barcelona, we had Wok to Walk for dinner. We messaged Jennifer and Krista about having Wok to Walk and how it made us think of them. Jennifer messaged us right back saying they had Wok to Walk for dinner too thinking the same thing! All of our roommate senses sent us to the same place for dinner.
Next door to Wok to Walk was the cutest gluten free bakery with a long line of people waiting for a table. We hopped in line and waited about 10 minutes for a table. We both got frappes and cupcakes. Anavi got a banana cupcake and I got a vanilla cupcake. We stayed there for about 2 hours, talking and eating our yummy treats. From there we slowly walked back to our hostel, taking in the sights of Madrid one last time.
This morning we left for Seville at 8:00 am by train. I again took a wonderful nap for most of the way. Once we arrived we walked through the town to our hostel which shares a square with the cathedral of Seville. We arrived before our check in time, so we dropped off our bags and went to get food as we didn't eat breakfast.
We found a cute restaurant around the corner from our hostel. I got yogurt with fruit and honey, toast with avocado, and orange juice. It was delicious! Anavi and I sat and talked for awhile asking each other random questions as we already know so much about each other that most normal topics we know each other's answers to already.
From there we walked to the river. The water is a pretty green color. Along the river there are many gardens and mosaics. There was one with a map of Seville and the area around it. We walked under on of the bridges and found some cool graffiti. Here's one of them. Can you guess what it says?
On the other side of the bridge is a tower which was used as a lighthouse many, many years ago. It was free to go up in today so we went to the top. We had a great view of the river. I almost tripped and fell on my face but thank goodness for the railing cause I caught myself. On the way down I almost tripped again. The stairs and I did not get along well today.
From there we went into the famous Plaza de Toros, a bull fighting ring. We happened to come during the time of free tours. During our free tour, we saw the ring itself, the museum with fighting memorabilia, the church where the bull fighters prayed before going out in the ring, and the stables were the horse were kept. I was surprised with how close the crowd is to the actual ring. There are front row seats with nothing more than a wall separating them from what's inside.
Ready for dinner, we went to a Mexican food restaurant around the corner from our hostel. I was impressed with the chicken tacos I got but they're nothing compared to Chelinos. Santa Rosa folks, hopefully you know what place I'm talking about. If not, go there!! It is my favorite Mexican food restaurant in Santa Rosa. Their super burritos are heaven in a cylindrical, tin foil wrapped shape.
After dinner, Anavi and I went on a free walking tour through our hostel. Our guide Felipe was hilarious. He made the tour so fun and interesting. He showed us parts of the Jewish Quarter and the area surrounding it. Tomorrow we're going to take another free tour with him about of "The 7 best things to see in Seville".
We came back to our hostel after the tour, ready to get in bed but when we walked into our dorm there were 2 new people. We introduced ourselves and all started talking. Jin is from South Korea and Garv is from India. They invited us to get drinks with them and we excepted. For over 2 hours we talked about things from politics to the meaning of life to language and so much more. Our conversations were so wonderful and fun. I was not excepting to go out tonight but I am so glad I did.
