Going to a Jazz Club, the Joan Miró Museum, and Thanksgiving in Spain

After class yesterday afternoon I took a wonderful 3 hour nap. Taking a nap after classes before I go out has become a very common occurrence. The usual nap time for me is about 30 minutes to an hour and a half. As you can see I'm taking full advantage of the siesta time here.
I woke up about 7:30 pm so I made myself lettuce wraps with hummus, red bell peppers, carrots, avocado, and quinoa for dinner. Oh my gosh were they delicious. I could probably eat those for the rest of my life. I ate dinner early than usual because I was going to the Harlem Jazz Club with some of my classmates/friends. A normal Spanish dinner time is 9:00 pm and since living here I'm now not hungry for dinner till then.
None of my roommates were going to the jazz club but a few girls from my building were. We left at 9:00 pm for the club. It was a 16 stop metro ride with one transfer but totally worth it. We got off the metro at Jaume I and ran into a group of our classmates. We all joined together and walked to the club.
The Harlem Jazz Club was just as I imagined it. It was a small place that could barely fit everyone that was there though it didn't feel cramped. It gave it a homey feeling. The walls were yellow but you could only tell when you were in the entryway and bar area because all the lights were dimmed down in the seating/stage area. The stage was small but seemed much bigger when the band was on stage.
There were 3 members in the band. A bassist, a guitarist, and a drummer. As they played throughout the evening, you could tell they were all good friends and loving life. Each song was better than the last. I wish I could have stayed longer but the metro closed at 12 am that night and I was not willing to pay for a taxi home. Watching the band play made me miss playing the baritone saxophone quite a bit.
For our last Spanish Life and Culture outing, we went to the Joan Miró Museum. I am not a fan of his art. It looks like a first grader drew most of it. Our guide said that was what he was going for in the later part of his career. He was successful in that aspect.
Yesterday was my first Thanksgiving without my family. It was so weird to not be sitting around my Grammie and Poppop's living room table having dinner. I thought yesterday a massive wave of homesickness would hit around dinner time but the wave wasn't massive thanks to my amazing friends I've made here.
We had a Thanksgiving dinner of our own and it was wonderful. We each made a few dishes. Some were traditional Thanksgiving foods and some were variations on classic dishes. Every dish was delicious. Thankfully we all over estimated the amount we'd eat so we have tons of left overs!!
I'm so thankful to have met such wonderful people here who I will be friends with for the rest of my life. They've made this experience even better than I imagined. They are my Barcelona family.
Today I met with my group for my Spanish project. Our final project is using all of the concepts we've learned for the semester. We decided to write and film our own mini telanovela. We wrote the whole script today and will film it on Sunday. I'll post the video once it's been filmed and edited. I think you all will be very impressed by our acting and screenwriting skills.
Now I'm home and enjoying Thanksgiving leftovers and a glass of wine and doing more homework. I'm going to miss nights like these so much. Sitting at my dining room table with my homework and dinner, with my roommates somewhere in our apartment doing the same thing.
I only have 24 days left in Spain. Time has flown by. In 24 days I won't be able to say I live in Spain, I'll have to say I lived in Spain.
